Connected Health Cities Citizen Juries
Data sharing within Connected Health Cities will require the building of public trust, so that the population understand and consent to the use of data. This will have to be built on openness, transparency and engagement. This has already begun with the hosting of two Citizenís Juries. Over four days, the citizens heard from and asked questions of expert witnesses, and carried out group exercises to explore the jury questions. They reached conclusions together, and were polled on their individual views at the start and end of the jury process. Juror opinions on the uses of data were noted to change in both positive and negative directions following the provision of expert information. The perceived level of public benefit was a key motivator.
