National Institute for Health Research (NIHR)

By Tom Foley.

NIHR is funded by DH, to drive research from bench to bedside for the benefit of patients. It supports a wide range of translational and applied research. So far, it has shown limited direct interest in LHS, however, several of its funded (or co-funded) projects have LHS strands, including, Collaborations for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care (CLAHRCs), Patient Safety Translational Research Centres (PSTRCs) and Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD), Farr Institute, Clinical Record Interactive Search (CRIS) and NIHR Health Informatics Collaborative (NIHR HIC).
